Deny Yourself? Luke 9:23-27

Tyler Schofield 19 April 2015 Luke

Jesus says “Follow me” more often than any other saying in the gospels. To follow Jesus involves deep trust and a great change in priorities. Jesus challenges Christians to practice self denial in a radical commitment to follow him. This surrender is actually the path to the fullest of joys, the richest of satisfaction, the most profound rest and justice – both in this life and for eternity. Jesus asks: “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world,” (gets everything he wants,) “and loses or forfeits himself?” What seems like a huge cost, is really the door to the riches of God’s kingdom.
